Three Things to Know: Easts at Knights – 24/04/22

CARRARA | 24.4.22 | Mark Majdandzic

It feels like long ago that the Knights were playing at the Croatian Sports Centre but nevertheless Eastern Suburbs awaits in an all important game on Sunday afternoon. Kick off is scheduled for 3:00pm.

Here are three things to know before this afternoon’s clash:

Results around the league on Friday and Saturday have opened the door to cut into the gap at the top of the table. Considering the away trips already completed and the big fixtures at home coming up in the middle/early portion of the second round, a favourable outcome this afternoon will put the Knights within 3 points of league leaders Olympic FC. Still in the early stages of the season, ensuring that the pace remains at the top will be crucial in the success of the red, white and blue for the 2022 season.

Although succumbing to our first loss of the season last weekend, the Knights can take plenty of positives on the defensive performance and the overall 90 minutes. Apart from the final third execution, Knights limited the chances on offer to Power and will be keen to back that up against an Easts side who have players that can hurt you on the break if given the opportunity. Limiting those chances and executing early in the final third will set the tone for the duration of the match and possibly the next slate of games.

Apart from last season the Knights home record is one of if not the best in the NPL Queensland. A dominant side at home continuing the fortune of old will be paramount to meeting the goals of the 2022 season. Having defeated Brisbane City at home in the first outing at the Croatian Sports Centre, the Knights will feel confident of replicating and bettering that performance at home in front of the fans to get back in the win columns. A strong home record will set the tone especially considering the bulk matches left at the Croatian Sports Centre.
