NPL Round 4 Preview: Redlands vs GCK

After back to back wins to kick off the 2020 NPL Regular Season, the Gold Coast Knights will be looking to make it a hat-trick when they travel to Redlands United FC tonight in Round 4 action.

With an impressive start to the 2020 campaign, the Knights will be looking to round out the week with a win and keep their 100% record intact.

They face a Redlands United side who haven’t chalked a point on the table so far, falling to Lions 8-0 and Capalaba 3-0 to begin their campaign. However, Head Coach Grae Piddick said his side will not look at these results as an indication of what they will face this evening.

“They’ll be hurting after two losses to start the year and we expect them to try bounce back especially at home. We have a target on our back this year after the Grand Final win so we’re expecting another tough fixture away from home,” said Piddick.

With the third game in a week posing problems in itself, Piddick indicated that some form of squad rotation would be in place.

“We have some players who haven’t played as many minutes as others so we’ll look to freshen up a bit and get some more minutes into our squad as a whole. We will make some changes to start the game but relatively the same squad will be running out.”

With the perfect start to the campaign so far, Piddick’s Knights seem to have no problem getting up for games and this will be no different come 7pm tonight.

“It is always helpful when you are winning to back up for 3 games in one week. We can’t sit back and put the excuses on the short turn arounds because we are ready and have the squad to get the job done,” said Piddick.

Round 4 action is scheduled for a 7:00pm kick-off at Compass Grounds, Cleveland.
