Match Preview: GCK vs Peninsula Power

Gold Coast Knights face their most important game of the season so far when they host Peninsula Power in Round 5 NPL Queensland action.

With both sides undefeated so far in the 2020 campaign, both teams will be looking to keep their streak alive come Saturday evening.

With last week’s rout of Redlands United, Head Coach Grae Piddick said he expects a much different game come this weekend.

“This is a very important game for both sides who have started the season off really well. We expect a lot of people down at the game so it would be good to put on a great performance,” said Piddick.

With free flowing attacking football coming at the hands of multiple players, Piddick expects both his side and Power to keep on attacking and plenty of goals throughout the match.

“Both teams play very attacking brands of football and we won’t change that heading into this weekend. We still need to make sure we defend well when we haven’t got possession but it will be important for us to be effective when we have the ball.”

The Knights will be relying on much of the same from star recruit Jheison Macuace, with the striker netting 6 goals already this campaign.

“We know the importance of goals in these big games and we are confident that we have enough to take care of what we need and get on the front foot early,” said Piddick.

Kick off is scheduled for 6:30pm at the Croatian Sports Centre.
