Knights Looking For Three Straight

by Mark Majdandzic

Consistency and momentum will be the aim for the Knights as they look to register their third win on the bounce when they take on Redlands United away from home tomorrow night.

The short turn around and Friday night fixture will be a tricky test for the Knights, who are looking to keep the pace up towards the top of the table.

With the front line finding some form in recent weeks, the Knights will try to continue their run in front of goal, especially through key marksman Sam Smith. The English born striker has scored 4 goals already this season in three starts.

Having lost to Strikers, City and Brisbane Roar Youth, Redlands will be eager to register their first points of the season at home against a Knights team full of confidence.

With the competition being so tight and challenging, Head Coach Grae Piddick said that every game counts and is as equally as tough as the other.

“Recovery has been the focal point this week to make sure everybody is ready to go. Everyone in the competition is more than capable of beating anyone so we know that we face a challenge on Friday.”

“I think internally once we scored the fourth goal against SWQ the boys took their foot off the pedal to make sure they were all okay for Friday. It seems like they have all recovered well,” said Piddick.

One player who won’t be making the trip up to Cleveland is Eoghan Murphy, who will miss the match with a hamstring problem.

With the Knights creating a lot of chances in front of goal and finally capitalising on a few last week, central midfielder Roman Hofmann said that the goal is to keep continuing to create chances and kill games off early.

“With the short turn around we are all confident after two wins in a row. Nothing will change going into this game and we are going in thinking anything less than 3 points is not good enough.”

“We are still adjusting but have come a long way since pre-season. We could have put away a lot of chances in the first three games but we have full faith in the boys up top. It showed that on the weekend and hopefully it can continue this week,” said Hofmann.
